1 Peter 2:11 tells us to, "abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul." And we read in Galatians 5:17 that, "the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit." In other words, if you are a Christian, there is a war going on inside of you.
Is someone born gay? That's the wrong question. The question we should be asking is this: Does the state of your birth provide justification for your actions? It seems pretty obvious that the answer is no.
Easter is not the end of the story. It's just the beginning! Jesus is alive and still at work today. Jesus has a design, a plan and a purpose for your life.
Recently I found myself outside a bathroom that made it clear that anyone could use it... and I mean anyone. How did we get here? Well here is the simple version of the story.
When we get to the end of the story of the flood, God gives Noah the same commission that he gave to Adam and Eve. As we see in Genesis 9:1, he wanted him to be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth. God's plan was for people to spread out all over the earth, but instead…
Many people, in their efforts to embrace evolution and the big bang have abandoned Genesis 1-11. We have established in previous emails that the early chapters of Genesis are the inspired Word of God. Everything recorded actually happened as it is described.
It's plain and simple. Death is a result of sin. Death is the punishment for sin. Before Adam and Eve had sinned there was no death. I think we can all agree that we don't like thinking about the pain and suffering associated with death.
Scientists have all kinds of dating methods to try and determine the age of the earth, but all of their methods produce different answers. So how do we know how old it really is? We can calculate it pretty easily using the Bible.
How could there be light before God created the sun? This is a great question and also a common one. Let's dive into scripture to find the answer. First let's look at the account of what happened on the first day:
For Christians, life is a gift from God. Every person on the face of the earth was made by him and for him. The value we place on life comes from the fact that each person has been made in the image of God.
Jesus is very clear that he is the only way to salvation. There is nothing you can do to perform your way into heaven. There is no other person that you can turn to and there's no other path that can lead you there.
Ephesians 2:8-9 tells us that, "by grace you have been saved through faith." Not only is it grace alone, but it's also faith alone, or Sola Fide, as the reformers put it. But what does it mean to be saved by faith? What exactly is faith?
The short answer is no. Why? Because no one is good. In Psalm 53:3, David said this about humanity: “They have all fallen away; together they have become corrupt; there is none who does good, not even one.”
What is a worldview? Simply put, it’s the way we look at the world. It’s the lens we use to interpret what’s happening all around us. As Christians, our lens is the Word of God. The Bible has something to say about every aspect of life.
Do Americans all believe in the same God? A popular idea in our culture is that “all people pray to the same god or spirit, no matter what name they use for that god.” But is that true? Are we all talking about the same God?
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard someone say, “What’s true for you is not what’s true for me.” This statement perfectly depicts the most influential worldview that our students are facing today… postmodernism.
