Biblical Manhood

Ten Qualities of True Manliness

  1. Valor - Be brave. Choose to do the hard things in life. Fight for the things that are important to God. Take a stand where no one else will.

Be strong and courageous and do it. Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed, for the Lord God, even my God, is with you. He will not leave you or forsake you, until all the work for the service of the house of the Lord is finished.
    1 Chronicles 28:20

  2. Chivalry - Be courteous. Treat ladies as the daughters of God that they are. Show them respect and be a good listener.

Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.
    Philippians 2:3

  3. Servanthood - Be selfless. Remember at all times that it’s not about you. Your life is a gift to be given to others. At every opportunity find your broom. Do the job no one wants.

Let the greatest among you become as the youngest, and the leader as one who serves.
    Luke 22:26

  4. Gentleness - Be thoughtful. Too many men use their power and strength to push other people over. Always consider what you say and how you say it.

Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness.
    1 Timothy 6:11

  5. Humility - Be careful. It’s easy when you’re talented to take glory for yourself. Graciously receive compliments from others but give all the glory to God.

Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.
    Colossians 3:12

  6. Leadership - Be intentional. Step up and show others the way. Give them an example. Empower them and inspire them.

Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.
    1 Corinthians 16:13

  7. Endurance - Be patient. Life is full of waiting places. Look forward to the promises of God and trust him in all circumstances.

As servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: by great endurance, in afflictions, hardships, calamities.
    2 Corinthians 6:4

  8. Faith - Be devoted. It’s all about Jesus. Stay connected to the vine and rely on Jesus and his power. Allow him to fill your life so that you can bless others.

I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
    Galatians 2:20

  9. Righteousness - Be holy. Pursue purity. Watch your life closely even when no one is around. Value the way your life reflects God’s glory.

You shall be holy, for I am holy.
    1 Peter 1:16

  10. Love - Be Christ-like. Above all else love God and love others. Make everything in your life about showing the love of Jesus.

Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children.
    Ephesians 5:1
