God's Design For Your Life

You Are His Possession

Luke writes in the book of Acts that he "dealt with all that Jesus began to do and teach" in his gospel account. What strikes me about that sentence is the idea that the story of Jesus doesn't end with the resurrection. Easter is not the end of the story. It's just the beginning!

Jesus is alive and still at work today. Jesus has a design, a plan and a purpose for your life. Peter writes this amazing description:

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God's people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

1 Peter 2:9-10

The first thing to notice is that everything is about Jesus. You belong to him. He bought you at a great price. He has chosen you and made you new for a specific purpose. What is that purpose? To proclaim the excellencies of God!

Made to Proclaim

We were made to proclaim Jesus! We are called to share about who he is and what he has done for us. There are two primary ways we can do this. The first is by shining his light to others. We are called to live holy lives because God is holy. We should strive to reflect his glory to others in everything that we do. The second way we proclaim him is with our words. It's not enough to just show Jesus to others. We have to also share Jesus with others. That means Jesus needs to be part of the conversation. Let's be intentional about sharing our faith and spreading the message of Jesus to others. If we do this, we can trust that Jesus will be working in us and through us. It's all about introducing people to the risen Christ!
