As Israel faced an army on one side and a sea on the other they could have decided to either try and swim or to fight the Egyptians. Both of those options would have had poor results. Instead they chose to listen to Moses who said

Have you ever been running late and trying hard to think about how you will explain your tardiness? It’s never really our fault is it? By contrast, when someone else is late it’s always their fault. Sound familiar?

I’ve sat across from kindergartners who’ve been devastated by the death of a goldfish, and ninth graders who are wrecked by a difficult breakup. It’s easy for us to look at those situations as adults with a certain amount of amusement because we have a little more perspective on the world.

I remember getting away once to the mountains and when I looked up at the stars I was reminded that each of them was in its proper place. Every star was exactly where God had placed it. When David looked at the stars he said, “what is man that you are mindful of him?”
