1948 in Modesto

The year was 1948. Under a tent in downtown Modesto, 2000 chairs were being set up, arranged into rows. Later that evening thousands of people were gathering to hear a young Billy Graham preach the Gospel in his fourth ever crusade. Seventy years later we are still listening to him preach the Gospel. Dr. Graham is with Jesus now, but his story is still being told and his life is being remembered and the Gospel is shining through clearly. While he and his team were staying at a hotel off of the 99 freeway they came up with what would be known as the Modesto Manifesto. The manifesto consisted of four key ideas that would guide their approach to ministry for the next seventy years. In a word, it's all about integrity.
