““Son of man, behold, they of the house of Israel say, ‘The vision that he sees is for many days from now, and he prophesies of times far off.’ Therefore say to them, Thus says the Lord God: None of my words will be delayed any longer, but the word that I speak will be performed, declares the Lord God.””
In the time of the prophets there were a whole bunch of people who hear their words but didn’t listen. Many of the people had no fear when they heard warnings because they thought they had plenty of time. The people of Israel thought that the words of the prophets were for some far off time in the future. In Ezekiel 12 God spoke up to remind the people that he would cary out his words now. Our problem today is much the same. Many people don’t even stop to think about eternity or life after death because they assume they have plenty of time. The reality is that none of us know how long we have. Not only can we die at any time, but Jesus himself can return at any moment. Why do we put off thinking about the big questions? Why do we put off listening to the Lord and following him? Jesus said that he is coming soon. We need to be ready. The time is now. The time for decisions is now. Time is up!
