Ordination
Rev. Scott Elliott
Big Valley Grace Community Church
January 4, 2020
What is ordination?
At Big Valley Grace, ordination refers to the process and recognition by our Elders of a man’s call to ministry, preparation as a shepherd, and qualification to serve. While each of our pastors has been commissioned by our Elders, ordination is a lengthier process that is conferred for life, so long as the man continues to manifest the qualifications of the office. This process involves years of education, experience, and rigorous examination. Upon completion, ordination is marked with a ceremony where the Elders appoint the pastor with oil, lay hands upon him, and pray for him.
Scott’s Ordination
On January 4th, 2020 the Elders recognized and ordained Pastor Scott Elliott. Scott grew up at Big Valley Grace Community Church and responded to God’s call to ministry when he was 21, serving the church and attending seminary at Fuller, where he received his Masters of Arts in Theology. Scott has served as a pastor since January of 2012 and has primarily been shepherding young people as the Campus Pastor of Big Valley Christian School.
Weekend Message
On this weekend Scott preached a special message in all three of the worship gatherings. The message was an overview of the book of Zephaniah entitled The Day of the Lord. During the services the elders of the church anointed Scott and prayed for his ministry.
